After returning from a fabulous weekend in Long Island on Monday I was prepared to write a blog about what a great time we had when I read in the New York Times about Bush’s commutation of Scooter Libby’s prison sentence.  This put me into a total funk.  This is just more proof that Bush believes that he and the rest of his neo con cronies are above the law entirely.  Two years ago Bush was quoted as saying that whoever was responsible for the leak of Valerie Plame’s identity would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  I guess he spoke too soon, not realizing that it was one of Cheney’s closest advisors who had done the deed.  The disregard for the laws of this country that this administration has is unbelievable.

So, that’s my rant for the day.  Back to the fact that we had a great time out in Peconic this weekend.  Cassie, her mom, and Martin did a great job of planning everything and cooking great food for everyone all weekend.  On Saturday we were out on the beach all day enjoying the sun, the water and each others company.  Right when we arrived at the beach Andy spotted a turtle in the water.  He was determined to try and catch it which we thought was ridiculous.  He hopped in the water and then herded the turtle closer to the shore but he still couldn’t get close enough to catch it.  Then we saw him go under water for a minute and then came up with the turtle….pretty crazy.  The turtle turned out to be a diamondback terrapin. The day was topped off with a bonfire and a clambake.  One of the guys who was with us had his guitar and he played while we all sang songs, although I tried not to sing too loudly, since as most people know, I have the worst voice on the planet.  We spent Sunday playing badminton and volleyball out on the lawn at Cassie’s mom’s house, enjoying mojitos and daquiris.  It was really hard to get on the bus and come back to the city on Monday.  Click on the pictures link for a few snapshots of the weekend.
